Position Overview

The Director of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is a newly expanded position for UW Health.  Reporting to the VP of HR Operations, the Director will manage a team of 11 with 3 direct reports.

The Director will play a strategic leadership role in shaping the HR technology ecosystem and will have the opportunity to lead transformative HR technology initiatives, including:

  • Oracle Cloud implementation and optimization across UW Health’s Wisconsin and Northern Illinois locations
  • Expansion of the ServiceNow platform within Human Resources
  • Exploring AI and generative AI for HR processes
  • Ensuring compliance and evolution of HRIS systems as technologies change

The Director will work closely with the Director of IS Solution Delivery to drive strategic value for the business.

The position is remote with the expectation to be onsite once a quarter.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a culture of innovation, value, efficiency, and collaboration internally and externally to empower and motivate a team of technology professionals.
  • Develop and implement an industry leading HR Technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Oracle HR Platform and other HR Systems and integrations to support HR program deliverables and create the digital roadmap and governance structure for future configurations, products, and upgrades.
  • Partner with the data analytics team in developing and maintaining HR analytics that will improve decision making relating to organizational health.
  • Lead and facilitate complex large scale, cross-functional projects involving systems and/or business processes to obtain business goals and operational objectives.
  • Evaluate the impact of and opportunities for Artificial Intelligence and Generative AI for the HR function.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Seven years of progressive experience in the management of human resources, HRIS, or information systems
  • Experience providing leadership and managing an HRIS solution (such as Oracle, Workday, or PeopleSoft) for a large, complex organization
  • Leadership experience building and managing a high-functioning team

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • Oracle HCM experience (strongly preferred)
  • Healthcare experience in an organization that includes HRIS services
  • Experience working in a remote environment

Successful leaders in this role will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, along with strong project management and vendor management abilities.  They also need to be innovative, collaborative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
