SVP/Chief Information Job Overview:

The Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (SVP/CIO) at Sharp Healthcare is an incredible opportunity for an experienced healthcare IT leader seeking a high-profile, strategic position with a highly respected health system in a beautiful location.

The SVP/CIO will oversee infrastructure, applications, risk and information security, analytics, informatics, contracting and vendor management, and special projects. Clinical engineering and bio-medical devices support is outsourced to GE. The technology team is approximately 600 people.

Qualifications:
  • Ten or more years of experience in a leadership role in a complex information systems environment
  • Healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience working closely with physicians and other healthcare providers on strategic IT initiatives
  • Previous experience with Cerner and Allscripts clinical applications is a strong plus
  • Visionary leadership and strong tactical and strategic expertise, negotiation and facilitation skills, along with the ability to motivate, persuade and build consensus
  • Demonstrated value-based leadership skills that emphasize creation of strategic vision, innovation, communication, finance, project management, human resource management and development and ability to be a team player
  • Experience implementing LEAN management methods aimed at simplifying processes and reducing costs

Tower Health has retained Kirby Partners to identify, qualify and present individuals for their SVP/CIO position.

Leading a team of over 200 professionals, the SVP/CIO will collaborate with Tower Health Executives and Vice Presidents of business lines throughout the enterprise network.  This will include senior leadership, physicians, and Department Chairs at each of the facilities.  The SVP/CIO will also work with Tower Health Medical Group and Tower Health Partners to advance their initiatives for a Clinically Integrated Network organization.

SVP/CIO Position Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Preside over Information Technology operations for the Tower Health network.
  • Create a vision for IT strategy for the system.
  • Assess the current infrastructure and determine what is needed to support the new system.
  • Identify ways to maximize information technology in the delivery of healthcare.
  • Report and share information with the Board to ensure they are kept fully informed on the condition of the information technology utilized within the organization and important factors influencing it.
  • Identify and lead procurement and implementation of new information technology devices, infrastructure, and systems to support the delivery of healthcare.
  • Ensure highly productive relationships and partnerships for the benefit of the organization.
  • Set goals, monitor work, and evaluate results for information technology initiatives to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization.
  • Work alongside senior staff/board members, executive directors, and community leaders. Participate in and nurture broad networks of alliances with others to exchange knowledge and information about learning and change in support of change initiatives.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed by each department.
  • Attract, retain, and motivate staff.

 

SVP/CIO Position Qualifications:

Competencies:

  • Expert knowledge of improvement methods within a healthcare setting.
  • Experienced and skilled at managing complex technology projects that span across multiple departments, as well as geographic settings.
  • Excellent writing skills as well as superb interpersonal and verbal communication skills; a master at presenting information, ideas, and results is critical.
  • Ability to work in a fast moving and, at times, intense environment.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining relationships at all levels within the organization as well as externally with allies, current partners, and potential partners.

Required:

  • 7+ years experience in health care information technology management and operational experience with a focus on improving the quality and safety of healthcare.
  • 5+ years health care information technology leadership experience at a Sr. Director or Vice President level.
  • Significant strategic experience within a multi-entity hospital setting or hospital IDN.
  • Bachelor’s degree

Desired:

  • Experience in complex multi-site healthcare systems preferred.
  • An MBA or other applicable graduate degree is strongly preferred.
