Senior Director of Enterprise Applications Position Overview

The Senior Director of Enterprise Applications (SDEA) is a newly created position for SIH. The SDEA will report to the CIO and oversee four direct reports (the total team size is 50). This key leadership position will bridge the gap between the CIO and the manager level, adding accountability, improving productivity, and providing mentoring.

The SDEA will:

  • Plan and manage large-scale implementation projects
  • Develop and promote standardization
  • Anticipate the needs of the organization
  • Partner with leadership to deliver high-value IT solutions
  • Align/exceed organization objectives
  • Build and sustain professional relationships at all levels of the organization

Initial projects include these high-visibility initiatives:

  • Assisting with the transition and implementation of Epic into a newly acquired hospital
  • Application optimization and Epic updates
  • Workday implementation (June 2024)
  • Transition to Epic Hyperdrive (2024)
  • Potential implementation of Salesforce into the call center

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of healthcare/business operations experience

Vice President/CIO Position Overview

The Southern Illinois Healthcare Vice President/CIO will direct this 3-hospital system’s information technology department to continue working towards the industry’s best IT practices.

The CIO will direct the planning and implementation of enterprise IT systems to improve cost effectiveness, service quality, and business development. 

This key system leader will oversee a staff of 125 IT team members, report to the CEO, and is a member of the Executive Team.

Initial projects include:

  • Transition a recently acquired hospital to SIH systems
  • Develop plans to continue optimizing applications and technology
  • Further the growth of telemedicine
  • With the CHIO, continue to move informatics programs forward
  • Continue consolidating business and clinical system throughout the enterprise

SIH utilizes Epic as its EHR.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor degree 
  • Eight+ years of progressive supervisory experience
  • Seven+ years of healthcare Information Technology management experience
  • A proven background in community and rural healthcare management

Organization Overview

Southern Illinois Healthcare is the premier hospital system in Southern Illinois and consists of three hospitals. The largest hospital, Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, is a 153-bed acute care facility and the regional referral center for southern Illinois. It features tertiary care such as vascular, neurology and a Top 100 cardiac program, Prairie Heart Institute. Herrin Hospital features all modern surgical and patient care areas, an eight-bed ICU with house wide telemetry, 117-beds, all-digital imaging and archiving, and a 24-hour hospitalist program. It is home to nationally acclaimed acute rehabilitation through an alliance with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, is the only SIH hospital to have a Catholic affiliation, and serves as a critical access hospital in Murphysboro, Illinois. St. Joseph is one of six hospitals nationwide named a 2011 and 2012. In addition to the three system hospitals, IT provides support to two other hospitals on a contract basis.

This Chief Innovation Officer will direct the information technology department to continue working towards the industry’s best IT practices. The major IT system is Meditech. The CIO departed in November and an interim CIO is in place and is not interested in relocation from his home area.
