North Mississippi Health Services (NMHS) is a diversified regional health care organization, which serves 24 counties in north Mississippi and northwest Alabama from headquarters in Tupelo, MS. At 650 beds, North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo is considered the national’s largest rural hospital in the U.S. NMHS is a nonprofit and community-owned health care delivery system. The organization includes eight hospitals, four nursing homes and 34 clinics. NMHS manages two additional hospitals with Nursing homes.
Position Highlights
The CIO will oversee the technology needs of 10 hospitals, 34 clinics, six nursing homes, and other health-related entities in a large geographic area in north Mississippi and northwest Alabama. The NMHS has an IT department of 157 full-time staff members and the CIO has six direct reporting areas: Financial Systems; Technology; Security/Help Desk, PC support and Installation, and Operations; Physician Systems; Nursing Systems; and Ancillary Clinical Systems.

The Vice President/Chief Information Officer of Hospital Sisters Health System plans, administers, and implements information systems for the enterprise. The VP/CIO articulates the HSHS strategic vision for clinical information systems and communicates with hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide information on HSHS’s direction and the status of major initiatives. The VP/CIO leads the IT team in translating the needs of the caregivers into the vocabulary of meaningful use technology. A key responsibility is effectively orchestrating the efforts of technical personnel in the successful implementation and maintenance of systems, which facilitate the delivery of clinical information.

Connecticut Children’s Medical Center is a nationally recognized, 187-bed not-for-profit children’s hospital serving as the primary teaching hospital for the University of Connecticut School of Medicine department of pediatrics. As the Primary Care Center for the Hartford region, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center serves as “the doctor’s office” for nearly 15,000 children. It is the largest pediatric primary care service for children between Boston and New York. Pediatricians provide primary care services such as well-child checkups and immunizations, and care for minor illnesses. Connecticut Children’s is the only independent pediatric facility in Connecticut. There are plans to possibly expand geographically (New York and Massachusetts).

The Director, Information Technology Security serves as the process owner for all information security activities. This individual is responsible for developing the policies and procedures that addresses the strategies used to access and protect confidential patient, employee and business information. Will also be responsible for developing the security monitoring plan to ensure organizational compliance with federal and state requirements. Position will be a member of the IT Governance Board. The director will also be responsible for website security.

The Divisional CMIO provides clinical leadership in the optimization of advanced clinical information systems that support strategic clinical transformation at Hospital Sisters Health System. The Divisional CMIO serves as a divisional representative and advocate for clinicians, as well as administration, in promoting the alignment of goals and the utilization of information technology in the clinical setting. Under the general direction of the Senior VP/CIO, the Chief Information Security Officer directs development, implementation, and oversight of Lifespan’s information technology security infrastructure in compliance with industry best practices and federal and state regulations. Responsibilities include developing information security strategy and implementation plans, as well as polices and procedures related to patient health information and all other confidential information in electronic form. The CISO provides leadership in development, management, control, and security assessment of all Lifespan systems include legacy applications, new applications, data centers, local area networks, wide area networks, firewall/proxy servers, telecommunications systems, service desk, technology centers and facility infrastructure.

This position will oversee an IT staff dedicated to ancillary clinical applications (lab, radiology, cardio, and research). The director will lead a number of projects are on the schedule for the next 24 months including: Replacing the cardiovascular application; Lab upgrade for MU2; Radiology Vendor Neutral Archive / Enterprise Imaging; and Building a research informatics team.

The Chief Technical Officer is a new position for Athens Regional Health System. The organization has numerous large-scale initiatives underway that require technical leadership. The Chief Technical Officer will have three direct reports, and over 60 indirect reports. This position will be the “right hand” of the CIO and will have extensive budgetary responsibilities. The CTO has overall responsibility for managing the technology infrastructure planning and deployment, providing technology vision, enabling innovation and understanding the IT trends that can create business value.
