Chief Medical Information Officer Position Overview

As Aspirus continues to grow, the CMIO is the physician executive responsible for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of clinical care information across the system. In coordination with the CIO, the CMIO will be responsible for setting strategic direction for clinical systems and improving physician efficiency through the optimization of the Epic EHR.

Epic’s lab system, Beaker, will be implemented in early 2022, as well as integration of recently acquired facilities. An Epic “refuel” project is slated for 2023. As a business leader, the CMIO will engage with operations and make business cases as optimization continues throughout service lines.

Digital transformation is key to success at Aspirus as the organization moves forward. The CMIO needs to build key relationships; needs to translate the technical into clinical and work effectively across all disciplines, including nursing and analytics.

This CMIO will have the opportunity to build their informatics team in a matrixed organization. 2) Ambulatory SWAT team: Each site will have a survey about 4 weeks before an on-site to find out issues so the informatics team can work with clinic and strive to resolve 80% of their issues in a week and up to 95% within a month. With multiple teams, they plan to cover each ambulatory practice within 10 months and then start over.

To be successful with these programs, the CMIO will need to build and oversee physicians from each specialty.

Senior Director of Network Infrastructure Position Overview

The Senior Director of Network Infrastructure is a key member of the HSS IT leadership team.  Reporting to the CTO, the Senior Director is a highly influential role, making investment and priority trade-off decisions, as well as negotiating and managing vendor contracts.

The Senior Director is a forward-looking technology leader who can not only develop an infrastructure strategy but also drive it through to execution and support.

This senior leader will be responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable technology while also developing a strategic plan for world-class digital transformation.

The Senior Director will lead strategic planning for aligning network and voice/data technology with the digital transformation strategy, including omnichannel communications (IVR tech, contact center, pilot w/ Google), customer engagement (texts, voice improvements, video, etc.), and reporting and analytics on those touchpoints.

The Senior Director will also recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing team.  Currently, the team is tightly-knit, well-functioning, and comprised of 14 people overseeing: 

  • Cloud-based and on-prem data and voice services
  • Unified communications 
  • Local and wide-area network infrastructure

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred

Experience/Background: 

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in technology leadership positions with an emphasis on infrastructure services
  • A strong technical background as a data and/or voice network engineer
  • Substantial experience leading, directing and controlling a complex, highly technical network operation or organization
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging technologies and the ability to apply those technologies to business needs
  • A track record of working collaboratively and productively with business partners

This key executive will be responsible for further development, maturation and execution of the enterprise strategy that effectively serves the analytic, data, and reporting needs of the system.

The Director will lead and oversee the analytics and data warehouse teams that provide the infrastructure as well as the mining, analysis, forecasting and reporting of data to support the strategies associated with ongoing growth, care transformation and business development and evolution.

Orchestrating, organizing, structuring and developing a cohesive team to enable a robust analytics function in support of data-driven decision-making across the health system are also key objectives. This person will inspire their team to greatness and foster an environment of customer obsession leveraging the voice of the customer through analytics with the goal of decreasing healthcare costs, improving patient outcomes and improving the healthcare experience.
