Director, Enterprise Data & Analytics Job Overview

The Director, Enterprise Data and Analytics develops the vision, strategy and provides operational leadership for Vidant Health’s data and analytics program.

As a highly visible and impactful role reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Director fosters collaborative partnerships with technology, clinical and business teams across the organization to understand and deliver on the broad information needs necessary to support Vidant’s strategic objectives and operational imperatives.

Through routine, direct engagement with senior clinical and administrative leadership, the Director’s team supports the development of actionable insights and provides a critical linkage between the strategies of both analytics and the organization to achieve breakthrough performance for all Vidant Health stakeholders.

The Director develops and drives the roadmap for the data and analytics program with the overarching goal to transform and modernize Vidant’s analytics strategy, and to provide solutions that empower stakeholders to quickly answer questions and gain insights. The roadmap will include plans for reporting and visualizations as well as the appropriate underlying data architecture, governance, analytics, and technologies.

The Director is accountable for leading the continuous development of advanced analytics capabilities, service delivery, and uncovering drivers of business and clinical operations and performance. The Director strives to identify opportunities to eliminate duplication of effort and streamline the way our stakeholders consume data and information in a way that establishes a new framework of data governance standards for the organization.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ year’s experience in an analytics leadership/management role
  • Strong passion for a data driven culture; embraces a federated model for enterprise analytics
  • 3+ years of healthcare experience
  • Solid technology leadership skills
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Familiarity with data governance and security/privacy compliance including clinical research
  • Experience with data access tools such as: SQL, SAS, R, or Python
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree

The Director may elect to live in surrounding areas, including Raleigh, but will be on-site part of the time.

With the incredible growth of Moffitt Cancer Center, and the new strategic plan, Impact 2028, Moffitt leadership is investing heavily in the Information Technology division to rapidly accelerate maturity and position the organization for the future. Moffitt’s strategic plan is heavily dependent on information technology; one of three pillars is the Digital Care/Discovery Accelerator led by the new Chief Digital Innovation Officer. In addition to the data organization under the direction of the Chief Data Officer, the CDIO also has responsibility for digital innovation, and the Information Technology organization under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer. IT is a core enabler to the digital strategy and will participate in the design, development and implementation of the digital plan. In order to ensure the core functions of IT are positioned to support a rapidly growing organization and achieve the ambitions of the strategic plan, Moffitt is investing nearly $10 million dollars and recruiting over 90 new team members in IT demonstrating the organization’s commitment to technology excellence.

The IT department needs a solid foundation, ensuring the right resources, processes and technologies are in place driving maturity and building strong business partnership across the organization. This high-profile position serves as an important advisor to the Cancer Center’s leadership team and will contribute to the formation and execution of the Moffitt technology vision.

The Director of Scientific Computing position provides the opportunity to be at the intersection of computer science, genomics, and systems and computational biology to ensure the computing architecture keeps up with the rate of innovation in the nationally recognized research institute. Most importantly, the Director of Scientific Computing will define a vision of innovation that delivers values value and solves the problems and meets the needs of high-performance computing and data resources.

With high visibility within the organization, this individual will have the opportunity to develop a strategic plan, and design technology roadmaps for a variety of areas such as HPC capacity, and virtualized research environments, among other things.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees
  • 10+ years supporting research computing needs
  • Academic or healthcare experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Experience in creating and applying technologies to solve research data challenges
  • Knowledge of large-scale biological data and methods of management
  • Experience with high performance computing

Preferred:

  • Ph.D.
