Position Overview

UW Health seeks a visionary Director, IS Solution Delivery, to lead their enterprise imaging and clinical ancillary systems teams.

Reporting to John Long, VP of IS Solution Delivery, the Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of UW Health’s technology environment. This position is a unique opportunity to drive transformative change at an organization known for excellence in patient care, research, and education.

The Director will oversee a large portfolio of clinical technologies across the system and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to align IT strategy with clinical and operational priorities. Their team’s portfolio includes technology solutions and services for radiology, cardiology, radiation oncology and other procedural areas. The team currently supports approximately 200 applications, integration with Epic and other platforms, and 300+ servers for these applications.

As a member of the IT leadership team, the Director will contribute to the overall vision for the division and help identify new opportunities to use technology to enhance care delivery.

The Director will lead a high-performing team of approximately 50 IT professionals. They will have the opportunity to grow and strengthen the team as the portfolio evolves over time.

Key Initiatives

  • Imaging modernization including viewers, PACS, and vendor neutral archive. Modernization includes cloud migration.
  • Driving the roadmap and plans for migration to Epic when/if applicable for cardiology, GI, and other modules.
  • Completing application rationalization for the Wisconsin and Northern Illinois regions.
  • Leading adoption of new technologies for UW Health.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, Business, Health Administration, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
  • 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience in a health system or academic medical center setting
  • Deep expertise in enterprise imaging and radiology systems, including PACS implementations and cloud migrations
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of server and infrastructure management
  • Experience leading large-scale projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a complex environment

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, Business, Health Administration, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in applications, analytics, and/or data management
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in enterprise applications, analytics, data management, clinical care, or clinical or business operations
  • Clinical and/or health care operations experience
  • Membership in and certification from professional associations such as ACHE, AMIA, HIMMS, PMI, INFORMS, and TDW

Work Location:

  • UW Health offers a flexible hybrid work arrangement for this role
  • The Director will need to spend at least 50% of their time on-site at either the Northern Illinois or Madison locations to collaborate with teams and stakeholders
  • Regular in-person presence will be key to success in this highly visible leadership position
